The Steerage, 1907

When The Steerage was presented in 1914, Picasso noted that Stieglitz “understood what photography is all about”.

In 1917, Stieglitz exhibited Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain

Stieglitz worked to support American artists, in particular Paul Strand  and the young painter Georgia O’Keeffe with whom he had a love affair  from 1918.
